HAYS, Kan.-Just hours after Northwest Missouri State''s nationally-ranked women''s team lost to Fort Hays State, the Bearcat men extracted some revenge, upsetting the Tigers'' seventh-ranked men''s team 75-73 Saturday at Gross Memorial Coliseum.

Jake Reinders took a pass in the lane from DeShaun Cooper and scored with one second left to end Northwest''s six-game losing streak. It was Fort Hays State''s first loss at home this season (9-1) and the Bearcats'' first win on the road (1-7).

Cooper played all 40 minutes, scored 17 points and handed out a career-best 10 assists for his first collegiate double-double. Kyle Haake scored 18 points and made three 3-pointers in the game''s final nine minutes. The third gave Northwest (5-13, 3-11 MIAA) a 70-67 lead with 1:27 remaining.

Tiger guard Dominique Jones led all scorers with 23 points and tied the game at 73 with a trey with 20 seconds left. Northwest called timeout to set up the game''s final score.

Fort Hays State (17-3, 11-3) shot 58 percent from the field, but lost the turnover battle 13-4. Northwest committed one turnover in the first half and trailed 34-31 at the break.

The Tigers led by 11 with 13 minutes left but saw its lead evaporate during the game''s next nine minutes. A bucket by Elijah Allen with four minutes left completed the comeback and gave the Bearcats a 62-61 lead. Allen finished with 18 points and six rebounds.

Bearcat forward Arunas Simanavicius posted a line of nine points, 12 rebounds and six steals. He had just as many offensive rebounds (6) as Fort Hays State and three times as many steals as the Tiger team.

Ken Bowman and Dijon Smith had 14 points each for Fort Hays State, which needed a game-winning three-pointer from Corbin Kuntzsch to escape Maryville back on Dec. 18. Kuntzsch had 18 points in that contest, but was limited to nine Saturday.
