MARYVILLE, Mo.-Emporia State turned in its best shooting performance this season to end a two-game skid and net a 74-62 road win against Northwest Missouri State Saturday at Bearcat Arena.

The Hornets (10-8, 7-5 MIAA) made a season-high 13 three-pointers and shot a season-best 59 percent from the field (26 of 44). Robert Moores led four Emporia State players in double figures with 16 points. Xavier Burnette and Michael Tyler added 15 points each and Taylor Euler had 11. Together they combined for 12 three-pointers.

DeShaun Cooper led the Bearcats (4-12, 2-10) with 23 points - his fourth 20-point effort in the last six games. Kyle Haake made all five 3-pointers he took and finished with a career-high 19 points. Arunas Simanavicius had six points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Haake hit four treys in the first half to propel Northwest to a 34-31 halftime lead. Moores countered with four 3-pointers in the second half for Emporia State. The Hornets committed two second-half turnovers and outscored the Bearcats 43-28 in the frame.

Tyler scored eight points during an 18-8 run that gave Emporia State a 64-53 lead with seven minutes remaining. There had been seven ties and 10 lead changes prior to that point.

Northwest got within six, 65-59, with 4:36 remaining but Euler hit a three out of an Emporia State timeout and Tyler followed with a layup after the media timeout that pushed the lead back to 11.
