BOLIVAR, Mo.-Ryan Dougherty scored a game-high 22 points to lead Southwest Baptist to a 73-71 win against Northwest Missouri State Saturday night in the "Battle of the Bearcats" at the Meyer Sports Center.

The win snaps a season-long, five-game losing streak for the 'purple'' Bearcats (8-8, 5-5 MIAA). The 'green'' Bearcats (4-10, 2-8 MIAA) have lost their last three and are 0-7 on the road this season.

Lane Barlow scored seven points on one possession that gave Southwest Baptist its largest lead of the game, 67-49, with three minutes remaining. Barlow was fouled near midcourt by Arunas Simanavicius, who then pushed Barlow to draw a technical foul. Barlow made four free throws, then a three-pointer from the corner to complete the possession.

Northwest scored 22 points in the final three minutes before running out of time. The Bearcats made their last eight shots including six three-pointers down the stretch. DeShaun Cooper scored 13 of his 19 points in the final three minutes including a trey at the final buzzer.

Elijah Allen also had 19 points for Northwest and pulled down 10 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. He had 10 points in a first half that saw Northwest go 10 minutes without a point and nearly 12 minutes without a field goal. Southwest Baptist scored 14 unanswered points during the drought and led 28-23 at the break.

Southwest Baptist entered the game as the second-best three-point shooting team in the nation, but was 5-for-13 playing in its first game without starting point guard Tomas Brock who hurt his wrist in Wednesday''s contest. Northwest made 2 of 16 three-pointers before its final barrage of buckets at the end of the game.
