MARYVILLE, Mo.-Girod Adams scored 21 points to lead four Northwest Missouri State players in double figures as the Bearcats handed Missouri Western its worst loss of the season, 83-57, Saturday in front of a season-high 1,550 fans at Bearcat Arena.

Northwest''s 36-23 halftime lead turned out to be the slimmest margin the rest of the way. The Bearcats (12-11, 7-9 MIAA) shot 53 percent from the field - second-best this season - and committed a season-low six turnovers. Missouri Western''s 36.5 shooting percentage was its second-lowest of the year and included a 4-for-18 effort from behind the arc.

Bearcat guard DeShaun Cooper scored 11 points and handed out eight assists to extend his season total to 92, a Northwest freshman record. Elijah Allen scored 15 points, Edriss Floyd added 14 and Jake Reinders finished with nine points and 10 rebounds.

Marcus Rhodes scored 13 of his team-high 19 points in the second half to lead the Griffons (14-10, 9-8), who''ve lost three in a row for the first time this season. Dominique Thuston finished with 16 points and six rebounds.

Adams scored 20 points for the second time in three games and for the seventh time this season. He made back-to-back 3-pointers midway through the second half and has hit 12 treys in his last three games. Adams also had five assists and two steals.
