Bearcats Earn First MIAA Victory, Down Washburn 81-73

MARYVILLE, Mo.-Edriss Floyd scored a team-high 20 points on 5-of-8 shooting from three-point range in his first game back from injury as Northwest Missouri State defeated Washburn 81-73 Saturday afternoon in Bearcat Arena. Floyd had missed the last three games with an injury.

Elijah Allen added 14 points and had eight rebounds while Girod Adams also had 14 and a game-high six assists in Northwest''s first MIAA victory of the season. Northwest shot 44 percent for the game and scored 25 points off of 23 Ichabod turnovers. The Bearcats would hit 79 percent of their free throws going 27-of-34 from the charity stripe.

After jumping out to an early 10-3 lead Northwest trailed 17-22 with just under 7:30 to go in the half. However the Bearcats would end the first half on an 18-6 run to lead at halftime 35-28. Floyd would score 14 points and Adams had 12 in the second stanza as Northwest did not trail in the second-half and would lead by as many as 12 points with just under 13 minutes to go.

Maciej Ustarbowski chipped in with nine points and five rebounds while DeShaun Cooper had seven points, four rebounds and five assists.

Northwest (5-1, 1-1 MIAA) will travel to Hays, Kan., on Wednesday, Dec. 9 for its first MIAA road game of the season against Fort Hays State.
