OMAHA, Neb.-Northwest Missouri State forward Hunter Henry notched his third double-double of the season, but it wasn''t enough in a 73-64 loss at Nebraska-Omaha Saturday at Sapp Fieldhouse. The Bearcats are 0-3 in MIAA play for the first time in 17 seasons.

Northwest (3-4) took 29 more shots than the Mavericks and committed 11 fewer turnovers, but poor shooting, including a 4-for-20 effort from 3-point range, contributed to the loss. Nebraska-Omaha (7-1, 2-1 MIAA) had a 21-6 edge in made free throws.

Henry scored 13 of his team-high 16 points in the second half. He finished 7-of-12 from the field and had a game-high 11 rebounds.

Mitch Albers hit six 3-pointers and had a game-high 25 points to lead the Mavericks, who improved to 3-0 at home. Michael Jenkins was 10-of-12 from the free throw line and added 12. Four Mavericks finished in double figures.

Northwest trailed by four at the break, but quickly tied the game at 39 on back-to-back buckets by Henry. Nebraska-Omaha countered with a 10-0 run, capped by a fast-break dunk and a 3-pointer, both by Albers.

Henry scored twice more and Ben Haarman added a layup to cut the lead back to four. Henry later drilled a 3 to make it 58-54 with less than eight minutes remaining.

Nebraska-Omaha scored the next seven points, but the Bearcats answered by scoring the next eight. Mike Larsen''s jumper made it 65-62 with 3:49 left.

Northwest made one of its final five shots to close the game and the Mavericks sealed it by making 8-of-10 free throws. Nebraska-Omaha didn''t make a field goal in the game''s final six minutes.

Haarman finished with 12 points and a season-high five steals. Northwest scored 20 points off 21 Maverick turnovers.

Shawn Carter had a season-high 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting and Elijah Allen and DaJuan Harris added eight off the Bearcat bench.
