MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State forward Hunter Henry scored a game-high 24 points on 11-of-11 shooting in the Bearcats 93-32 win against St. Mary Saturday at Bearcat Arena. It''s the 29th consecutive game Henry has scored in double figures, a Northwest record.
Henry had 19 points in the first half. He was 2-for-2 from 3-point range and had four rebounds and two assists.
Elijah Allen, a freshman from Columbus, Ohio, scored 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting and added three rebounds and two steals in his Bearcat debut. Mike Larsen also had 12 points. Andrais Thornton and Mose Howard gave Northwest five players in double figures. Both scored 10 points each.
Northwest (2-0) never trailed in the contest and built a 44-14 halftime lead. It was the second night in a row the Bearcats limited their opponent to 14 first-half points. Northwest''s defense forced 27 turnovers while the Bearcats committed just six. Northwest had 15 steals.
Winston Frazier and Zennon Black had eight and six points, respectively, to lead St. Mary. The Spires were 0-for-5 from 3-point range and 13-of-36 (.361) from the floor.
Northwest wraps up a three-game home stand to start the season at 7 p.m. Tuesday against Tabor.
