MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State University football's
Charlie Flohr has been named the 2016 FootballScoop Division II Coordinator of the Year presented by ProGrass. Flohr helped lead the Bearcats to the program's sixth NCAA title, the most in Division II history.
In 2016, Northwest led the nation in red zone efficiency at 96.2 percent and gained 348 first downs, the second highest mark in the division. The Bearcat pass completion percentage was 68.5 percent, best in the MIAA and third nationally. Surpassing 40 points on 10 different occasions, the Northwest offense averaged 45.5 points per game, ranking fifth in the NCAA.
Quarterback
Kyle Zimmerman completed 67.8 percent of his passes for 3,763 yards in a season where he was a Harlon Hill finalist, finishing second. Zimmerman was named the MIAA's Offensive Player of the Year and was one of 11 offensive players to earn All-MIAA honors.
Current Northwest head football coach
Rich Wright won the award following the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
