- 2011 MIAA Player of the Year
- 1st WBCA First-Team All-America honoree in program history
- Averaged 18.0 points per game for 2010-11 squad that reached the Final Four
There have been more than 300 student-athletes participate in women’s basketball throughout program history at Northwest, yet there has only been one to earn the distinction of WBCA first team All-American. Gabby Curtis is that one.
The 5-foot-7 inch guard from Ganado, Arizona was only a Bearcat for two seasons, following two years at Cowley County Community College, but that was more than enough time to leave an impressive legacy for the green and white. She was a valuable contributor in her junior campaign when she averaged just under 12 points and five rebounds a game as she helped the Bearcats increase their win total by five from the previous season. The team, along with Gabby, would make a monumental jump her senior season.
The 2010-2011 women’s basketball season was historic as a team and for Gabby as an individual. Her 613 points during her senior campaign are the second-highest single-season point total in school history. She posted double figures in scoring during 33 of the 34 games and notched three games of 30-plus points, including 34 in a game at Missouri Western and 35-point outing against Nebraska-Omaha that featured seven three-pointers, four steals, four blocks and four assists in 35 minutes.
Along with first team WBCA honors, she also captured second team Daktronics All-American honors. In addition, she was named first team all-region and selected as the MIAA player of the year – the only time that has happened in program history and concluded her two years a mere 60 points shy of 1,000 points.
