There have been over 40 volleyball teams in the history of Northwest Missouri State University. Through all those hundreds of student-athletes, there have been only three that earned All-MIAA volleyball honors each year of their career. M-Club Hall of Famers, Diann Davis and Jill Quast are two and the third, Abby Sunderman, will take her place next to them tonight.
Abby was the picture of consistency throughout her career. A steading force for her teammates, you could count on her being in the lineup and making an impact each and every match. She led the team in kills three of her four seasons and twice led the team in attack percentage.
She holds the number two spot in both career kills and attack percentage and her 148 sets played in 1997 is one of the top totals in school history. She owns three of the top ten single season point totals in school history and ranks third in points for a career. She was also a force on the defensive side of the net ranking third all-time in career blocks and block assists.
Her teams recorded 82 wins during her four year career. You need to go over 35 years back in time to find a four year stretch that was that successful in the history of Bearcat volleyball.
