Meyer heads to Brazil with USA D-2 Basketball

MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State University women's basketball senior Tanya Meyer has been selected for the USA Sport Tours & Events USA D-2 Basketball team's Brazil Tour. Meyer, who earned Second Team All-MIAA honors last season, led the league at 19.6 points and 9.9 rebounds. She has appeared in 79 career games with 1,018 points and 454 rebounds in three years.

The USA D-2 Basketball tour will run from July 31 through Aug. 9. The team will depart from Orlando, Fla., on July 31 and will play its first game on Aug. 1 against the Piracicaba Professional Team. On Aug. 2, the women will face Osasco in Sao Paulo. On Saturday, Aug. 5, the women take on Mangueira and the final game will be on Aug. 6 against Fluminense.

The team will then depart from Brazil on Tuesday, Aug. 8, and return to the U.S. on Aug. 9. Chris Kielsmeier, head coach at Wayne State, is the women's head coach for the tour. He is assisted by Kelly Kielsmeier, the assistant coach at Wayne State. The roster consists of 10 players with five from the MIAA. Pittsburg State will send Paige Imhoff and Brenlee McPherson along Chelsey Henry from Missouri Southern, Paige Redmond from Central Missouri.
