Volleyball earns sweep of Lindenwood


Story Headlines
- The No. 25 ranked Northwest Missouri State University volleyball team picked up a 3-0 sweep over Lindenwood on Friday evening at Bearcat Arena in Maryville, Mo.
- The Bearcats are now 22-7 overall and 10-7 in MIAA play. The Lions fall to 11-18 overall and 5-13 in conference action.
- Maddy Bruder had a match-high 16 kills with seven digs, two service aces and a block. She hit .361 for the match with just three attacking errors.
- Olivia Nowakowski had 19 digs with an ace to lead Northwest defensively.

Key Northwest Statistics
- The Bearcats won all three sets by scores of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-22.
- Miranda Foster had 11 digs and eight kills for the Bearcats. She added a pair of blocks and one service ace.
- Alexis Williams hit .333 for the match with six kills. Defensively she had a match-high six blocks with a pair of digs.
- Jackie Becker had six kills with three blocks and an assist.
- Sarah Dannettell had 25 assists with two digs and a kill.
- Jordyn Musselman added 13 assists with eight digs and a service ace.
- Darcy Sunderman had five kills to go along with five blocks and two digs.
- Northwest finished the match with 11 blocks to Lindenwood's four. The Lions hit just .116 for the match with 21 errors.

Key Northwest Sequences
- Down 3-2 in the first set, Northwest went on a 4-0 run to take control of the set early. After a bad set by the Lions tied the match, 3-3, Bruder put away back-to-back kills to go up 5-3. An attacking error by Lindenwood on the next play put the Bearcats up 6-3. Northwest would not trail the rest of the set.

- Things got close late in the third set as Lindenwood rallied to tie things up, 20-20. After the two teams traded points, Northwest got a 3-0 run keyed by kills from Becker and Bruder. Up 23-21, Northwest got a block from Sunderman and Williams to force match point. The Lions got one point back on a Bruder attacking error but on the next point, Northwest forced a Lindenwood attacking error to end the match.

- Northwest will host Central Missouri on Saturday evening at 6 p.m. Admission to the match will be free. The Bearcats will honor Becker and Foster prior to the match as part of Senior Day festivities.
