MIAA Press ReleaseKANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University football team was ranked first in both the 2015 MIAA Preseason Coaches and Media polls, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. The polls consist of votes from the 12 conference coaches and media covering the MIAA, respectively. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own insitution.
Northwest received eight of the possible 11 first place votes from the coaches while earning 118 total points. Pittsburg State was listed second with 114 points followed by Central Missouri with 92. In the media poll, the Bearcats were listed atop 28 of the 41 ballots cast, earning a total of 478 points. Pittsburg State picked up the remaining 13 first place votes and compiled 455 points, while Central Oklahoma was picked to finish third with 382 points.
The 2015 season is set to kick off on Thursday, September 3 when the Bearcats travel to Nebraska-Kearney at 7 p.m. Northwest's first home game is scheduled for Thursday, September 10 at 7 p.m. against Missouri Southern.
